Special Features
Gandhi Sangrahalaya is an active Gandhian Institution of Bihar, a
vibrant centre of educational, cultural and constructive activities. Its
personalia museum on Mahatma Gandhi has its speciality. Apart from it,
its non-lending regular library, which houses about fifteen thousand
titles, all basic Reference books on and by Mahatma Gandhi, files of old
papers and periodicals, Constituent Assembly Debates, Parliament
Debates, Collected and Selected Works of prominent leaders and literary
figures along with 2000 photo copy pages of the original writings of
Gandhiji and reports of various Commissions, set up by State and Central
Government from time to time are valuable collection of the Research
Section. Its competition wing is catering the requirement of hundreds of
youth aspiring for different State and All India competitive
examinations. Most of the required magazines, journals and books are
available for the regular members.
Gandhi Sangrahalaya has two Conference Halls for its regular meeting,
seminars, symposiums, and temporary exhibitions. It has a modest Guest
House for its own purpose. It has a well maintained lawn to accommodate
its own big gatherings on 2nd October, 30th January and other functions.
Memorable Events
Gandhi Sangrahalaya has the unique honour of
having Vinoba Bhave and his associates as guests for four months.
Badshah Khan (Khan Abdul Guffar Khan), Shaikh Abdullah, Mirdula Sara
Bhai, Dr. Sushila Nayyer, Gokul Bhai Bhatt, Sidhraj Dhadda, Sadiq Ali,
R.R. Diwakar, Radha Krishna, Rajendra Sachar, Thakur Das Bang, S.K. De,
Ravindra Verma, N. Krishna Swami, Achary Kirpalani, S.M. Joshi, V.M.
Tarkunde, Kaka Kalelkar, Suresh Ram Bhai, Marjurie Sykes, Usha Mehta,
Nirmala Behan Gandhi, Somdatta Vedalankar, Subhadra Joshi and other
known Gandhians stayed here as guests of honour.
Fuji Guruji, Morarji Desai, Jagjivan Ram, Y.B. Chawhan, Rabi Ray, Kuldip
Nayyer, Ajit Bhatacharjee, Prabhas Joshi, Subhash Sarkar, Namwar Singh,
Jagganath Azad, Moin Ahsan Jazbi, Mohd. Hasan, B.P. Koirala, Moin Haris,
Nain Tara Sehgal, B.G. Verghese, Ram Lal Parikh, B.R. Nanda, L.C. Jain,
Imtiza Ahmad, Vishnu Prabhakar, Yashpal Jain, Jainendra Kumar Jain,
Tarlok Singh and several all India personalities have visited
Sangrahalaya on important occasions and delivered lectures on burning
issues.
Valuable Associations
Since its beginning, other than the members of the
Samiti, all the national figures of Bihar like, Dr. Rajendra Prasad,
Jaiprakash Narayan, Mahamaya Prasad, Karpoori Thakur, Ganga Sharan
Singh, L.P. Sahi, Jaglal Choudhary, Badrinath Verma, Mahesh Prasad
Singh, Jagannath Sarkar, Basawan Singh, Smt. Prabhavati Devi, M.K.
Sinha, General S.K. Sinha, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Tarkeshwari Sinha,
Syed Hasib Razi, Ahad Fatmi, Taqi Rahim, Ghulam Sarwar, Sidheshwar
Parsad, Shah Mushtaq, Ramji Prasad Verma, Upendra Maharthi, a few to
name, remained actively associated with it and provided ample strength
to the Samiti with their valuable suggestion from time to time.
During the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 50th year of
Independence, Gandhi Sangrahalay as nodel agency, was entrusted to
execute the projects of the Concept Committee, Bihar, constituted by the
Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The construction of Gandhi
Sangrahalaya at Motihari, Bhitharwa Ashram, Mazharul Haq Library at
Sadaqat Ashram, Patna and L.S. College Memorial at Muzaffarpur have been
completed within the scheduled time frame. They are functional since
last four years. Development of Hazarimal Dharmshala, Bettiah, is yet to
be completed and is delayed due to some unavoidable reasons.

As a rule access to various sections of the Sangrahalaya is free to every one. Gandhi Sangrahalaya, Patna organises following activities from time to time.
